Far-right leader Roberto Vannacci
said Tuesday he had paid the copyright fee for using a song by
late singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla to celebrate the launch of
his new National Future party at the weekend after Dalla's
family complained and said the former paratroop general's ideas
could not be farther from those of the leftist gay artist.
Vannacci, who rocketed to fame with an anti-woke 2023 best
seller in which he said gays aren't normal and a black Italy
volleyball star does not have Italian facial features, liken the
Dalla foundation's protest over his use of the song 'Futura' to
recent protests about his using an image of Michelangelo's David
next to the new far-right party's symbol.
"Art belongs to everyone," said the remigration campaigner.
"As usual, and as happened with Michelangelo's David, where the
Florentine Democratic Party made a fool of itself, Futuro
Nazionale respects the rules and regulations and paid the rights
to publicly broadcast Lucio Dalla's "Futura."
"Art, music, and culture belong to everyone; they are the
heritage of humanity. There are no preemptive rights for the
left, the right, women, or homosexuals... I know the concept is
difficult for some to grasp, but with a little effort, you might
just manage."
