Vice President Vance admitted that he considers himself a conspiracy theorist when it comes to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
While on ABC’s “The View” Tuesday to discuss his new book, Vance was asked about the New York Times article published last week that detailed closed-door administration meetings on how to handle the spread of the files discussing ties between President Trump and Epstein.
“I am frankly kind of a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff, and that story says that,” Vance told the show’s co-hosts. “That’s one of the things that’s true, is that some people called me a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff.”
When one of the hosts pointed out that White House chief of staff Susie Wiles said he was a conspiracy theorist, the vice president confirmed.
“I love Susie, but absolutely, she thinks I’m a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff, because I think that it’s crazy that you have this guy who is clearly a sex predator who is hanging out with a lot of very wealthy and powerful people,” he said. “Like that really bothered me.”
“I wanted to have full transparency,” he added. “What I disagree with is the idea that the White House wasn’t committed to full transparency. We need to remember, like, I was inside the room when some of these decisions were made.”
The Times’s report described Vance as appearing “panicked” by the situation.
Co-host Sunny Hostin said she applauded the vice president for pushing for the Epstein files to be released to the public.
But co-host Ana Navarro pressed Vance on Trump’s friendship with Epstein and how the president only released the files “under duress” after some Republicans came out saying they wanted the documents released too.
Vance went on to defend Trump, pointing to the signing of the Epstein Files Transparency Act that prompted the release of the files and saying that emails showed that Epstein “hated” Trump.
“I do have to defend my boss, I know you guys don’t always appreciate this, but you know one of the things you see in the Epstein emails is that Jeffrey Epstein hated Donald Trump, and that Donald Trump literally reported Jeffrey Epstein to the police. That’s one of the things that came out,” he said.
He also said Trump was “frustrated” that the Democrats were making the Epstein files all about him.
