Simone Biles Says She's Recovering After Life-Threatening Experience

Simone Biles is springing back into action.

One week after she was hospitalized over a health scare, the Olympian shared that she and her husband Jonathan Owens were vacationing in Belize.

“We are going to my favorite vacation spot in the whole entire world today, which is Belize,” Biles said in the video posted to Instagram June 14. “My mom and her whole entire family were born and raised in Belize, and so me and my siblings actually have dual citizenship.”

The 29-year-old then took fans along with her for the day as she did her morning routine, fed her dogs and finished packing for the trip, all before she and her husband of three years headed to the airport and landed in the South American country.

Biles’ Instagram Stories also featured several snaps from the couple's vacation, showing the gold medal winner wearing a low cut red swimsuit while Owens enjoyed a fishing trip.

Still, fans were curious about Biles’ recent health scare, although they’ll have to wait a bit longer to learn more about it.

When one inquiring mind asked when she’ll give an update, Biles responded with a bandaged heart emoji, writing, “Not ready to talk about it just yet.”

The gymnast first shared the news of her experience on Instagram Stories June 6, posting a photo of herself wearing hospital bracelets and captioning the image, “I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age but almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”

“This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life,” she explained, “especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices.”

Biles said that she would be resting in bed for the time being, adding, “I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers. Loooovveeee y’all.”

She also posted a photo of her recovery at home and well-wishes from her friends, including several vases of flowers that she had received.

Biles included a pic of herself resting in bed next to her dogs and a screenshot of her heart rate, saying, “I’ll be here.”
