Troops of 12 Brigade of Nigeria Army have exhumed the body of notorious bandit kingpin Ibrahim Battijo (Kachalla Baccujo) in the forest near Iluke, in Bunu community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, for an autopsy.
The bandit commander, Battijo, was killed on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, when he led his members to attack students writing WAEC examinations at the government Secondary School, Iluke in Kabba/ Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State.
In the Iluke invasion, three people, including the Vice principal of the school, reportedly lost their lives while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The joint military task force operatives discovered the body of Battijo in the forest after an exchange of firepower with his members, and buried him there.
The Commander, 12 Brigade, Lokoja, Brigadier General Karim Sidi, who led the operation, said the body of the slain bandit kingpin was exhumed on Monday, 15th June, as directed.
He said, “We have successfully exhumed the body of Ibrahim Batijo in the forest of Iluke on 15th June 2026 for autopsy and DNA test to confirm if he is the person or not to allow the matter to finally rest.”
The Brigade Commander, who said he led a 12-man team for the operation, confirmed that two helicopters were dispatched from the office of the National Security Adviser to give cover for a hitch-free exercise.
