Firefighters extinguish apartment blaze in central Wellington

Emergency crews are blocking the road at the scene of a fire in central Wellington this evening.

Fire and Emergency were called about 7.35pm to a small fire in a Tory Street apartment block.

Five trucks are in attendance, but FENZ said the fire was out and crews were standing down.

Meanwhile, police and fire crews have blocked the street outside of the apartment block, and residents have now re-entered the building.
