
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo met two senior Singaporean ministers during the RISING Fellowship in Singapore on June 14-15 and discussed on efforts to strengthen Jakarta-Singapore partnerships in supporting Jakarta’s global city transformation.
According to an official statement received here on Wednesday, the meeting between Governor Anung and the two ministers—Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat and Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan—to amplify the relationships in several fields, including investment, urban development, public transportation, and civil service capacity building.
Governor Anung viewed Singapore as one of the Asia's most important economic and investment hubs, as well as a strategic partner for Jakarta.
Therefore, strengthening ties with Singapore is deemed a crucial step toward unlocking new investment opportunities, accelerating public transit-oriented urban development, and expanding collaboration in urban management to improve residents' quality of life.
"Jakarta is preparing for a major leap forward as it approaches its 500th anniversary. To achieve this, we need more strategic partnerships and investments that can fast-track the city's transformation," Anung said.

He added the meetings opened up opportunities for more concrete cooperation that directly benefits Jakarta's residents. The talks were also vital as they addressed two main needs for Jakarta, expanding international partnerships and accelerating city transformation.
During the meeting with Minister Chee Hong Tat, Anung discussed transit-oriented urban development, urban regeneration, public spaces, and measures to improve residents' quality of life.
Jakarta also welcomed opportunities for investment cooperation and the exchange of best practices with Singapore in modern urban development.
"Our target is not just entering the top 50 global cities. What matters more is ensuring that investment, public transportation, and urban development truly make the lives of Jakarta's residents easier, more comfortable, and more productive," he noted.
Meanwhile, Minister Balakrishnan welcomed the meeting with Anung, describing Jakarta as a city with vibrant energy and strong dynamics that maintains close ties with Singapore, including through flight connectivity and people-to-people relations.
