
Actress-host Atasha Muhlach is taking the lead role in the upcoming “Bongga Ka, ’Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical.”
The announcement was made through the social media pages of NWR Musicals on Wednesday, June 17.
“Atasha Muhlach is Annie Batungbakal! She’s ready to make her grand return to the theater stage in bongga fashion,” read the caption alongside Muhlach’s character poster.

During a press conference streamed by Viva Artists Agency, Muhlach admitted she became emotional upon learning that she had secured the lead role.
“First reaction, tears of joy. Kasi parang full circle moment sa akin kasi nagsimula po ako sa theater,” she said.
Atasha then shared the advice she received from her parents Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez, as well as her twin brother Andres Muhlach, who previously headlined the “Bagets Musical” last year.
“‘Kaya mo na ’yan. But always work hard,’” she said, referring to the advice.

Muhlach started her career in 2023 as a television host on “Eat Bulaga!.” She later headlined the crime thriller series “Bad Genius.”
Meanwhile, “Bongga Ka, ’Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical” is inspired by the iconic disco-era character popularized by the hit song “Annie Batungbakal” by OPM band Hotdog.

The musical follows Annie, a sales clerk who dreams of making it big in the fashion industry. Set against the backdrop of Manila’s vibrant disco scene, the production features songs from Hotdog’s catalog.
Joining Muhlach in the cast are Sam Concepcion, KD Estrada, Jeff Moses and Anthony Rosaldo.
Concepcion, Moses and Rosaldo will alternate in the role of Romer Pasion, one of Annie’s leading men, while Estrada will portray Burn, a character immersed in the disco world.
