
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Thanksgiving and a festive atmosphere filled Lapu-Lapu City Hall on Wednesday, June 17, as officials, employees, and residents marked the city’s 65th Charter Day.
The celebration highlighted Lapu-Lapu City’s achievements through the years while recognizing individuals and communities that contributed to its growth and development.
In her Charter Day message, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cindi King-Chan thanked local officials, private sector partners, and Oponganons for their continued support in advancing the city’s progress.
“Our greatest strength has always been, and will always be, our people,” King-Chan said.
She said the city’s accomplishments were made possible through the collective efforts of its residents and stakeholders working toward shared goals.

“As we proudly declare that we are One Lapu-Lapu and 65 years strong, may we also reaffirm our commitment to one city, one purpose, and one vision of a better future for Lapu-Lapu City,” she added.
The program honored city government employees for their years of dedicated service, including 10 retirees and nine loyalty awardees who have served the city between 20 and 25 years.
Outstanding barangays were also recognized during the event for excellence in governance and public service through the Seal of Good Local Governance Awards.

Award-winning barangays received cash incentives in recognition of their performance and commitment to delivering quality services to residents.
As part of the Charter Day observance, each barangay in Lapu-Lapu City also received ₱200,000 in financial assistance from the Office of the President.
King-Chan likewise discussed key initiatives, including plans to develop a comprehensive master plan for the proposed Lapu-Lapu City Hall Complex.
