Malta has officially delivered a winner.
MaltaPost has won the SEPAC Winning Stamp Award 2025/2026 after its entry received the highest number of votes from across Europe, earning the title of the most beautiful stamp among all participating countries.
The competition is organised by the Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation (SEPAC), which brings together 13 postal operators from across Europe. Each year, members issue stamps based on a common theme and the public is invited to vote for their favourite design.
This year’s theme focused on architecture, with MaltaPost’s winning entry featuring the Parish Church of Our Lady of Loreto in Għajnsielem.
The €1.91 stamp showcases the iconic Neo-Gothic church, famous for its intricate stonework, pointed arches and soaring spires. The landmark is widely regarded as one of Gozo’s most recognisable buildings and a standout example of Maltese architectural heritage.
MaltaPost’s Head of Philately, Mary Simpson, welcomed the achievement, describing it as recognition of the dedication and creativity behind the company’s philatelic programme.
The victory also marks MaltaPost’s second triumph in the competition, having previously claimed the award in 2022.
Behind the winning design is Mariah Grech, an artist from Marsaxlokk and MCAST graduate, who said creating the stamp was both a privilege and a rewarding creative challenge.
Grech expressed her delight that the design resonated with voters across Europe, helping place Maltese artistry and heritage firmly in the spotlight.
It’s not every day that a postage stamp becomes an international champion, but this little piece of Malta has just done exactly that.
