
UPDATED: Netflix has dropped the trailer for the third and final season of Michelle Buteau‘s Survival of the Thickest. The final chapter premieres July 2 on the streamer.

PREVIOUS, May 7: The third and final season of Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest will arrive on Netflix July 2.
Buteau revealed the teaser and debut date at her Netflix is a Joke stand-up show with a surprise appearance from Wanda Sykes, who guest stars this season.
“Get my good side,” Beaumont says early on in the teaser clip. “It’s all my sides.”
The glimpse of the series finale installment teases “the Oscars of fashion, the Emmys of Art” and “the Olympics of wedgies.”

Inspired by Buteau’s acclaimed book of essays, the scripted comedy centers on Buteau’s main character Mavis Beaumont, who is “Black, plus-size, and falling in love while loving herself.”
“Mavis works hard to grow her brand as a stylist and designer. She’s determined to not only survive but thrive with the support of her chosen family, a body-positive attitude, and a cute v-neck with some lip gloss,” the Season 3 logline continues.
Marouane Zotti, who recurred in seasons 1 and 2, has been promoted to series regular for Season 3. Additionally, Season 3 has added Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, Ashley Graham, Ronny Chieng, Wyatt Cenac, Jenna Lyons, Ice-T, LaQuan Smith, Charles Harbison and Ashley Romans as guest stars.
Returning series regulars and guest stars include Tone Bell, Liza Treyger, Peppermint, Alecsys Proctor-Turner, Anthony Michael Lopez, Garcelle Beauvais and RonReaco Lee.
In addition to starring and writing, Buteau serves as creator and executive producer alongside Danielle Sanchez-Witzel. Both Buteau and Sanchez Witzel will make their directorial debuts in the upcoming season; Buteau in epsiode 5 and Sanchez-Witzel in episode 3.
Amy Aniobi serves as showrunner and executive producer for Season 3. Aniobi and Kim Nguyen also will direct. Series is executive produced by A24 and Anne Hong from Mosaic.
