The mother of the new suspect in the
2007 murder of economics graduate Chiara Poggi, Andrea Sempio,
was taken to hospital Wednesday after overdosing on prescription
medicines.
The woman, Daniela Ferrari, was given a gastric lavage to clear
her system of the drugs.
Poggi's then boyfriend, Alberto Stasi, was granted probation
last week and walked free Monday after serving over 10 years of
a 16-year sentence for the murder.
Phone shop clerk Sempio is expected t be indicted over the
crime, while Stasi is expected to be cleared after one of
Italy's most grievous miscarriages of justice.
