Jakarta (ANTARA) -
The Social Affairs Ministry has once again disbursed additional assistance worth Rp967.5 billion or around US$54.5 million to support the socio-economic recovery phase for survivors of disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, during a press conference here on Wednesday, said the stimulus allocation marked the ninth disbursement period and will be directed toward medium-term emergency response efforts in 10 affected districts and cities across the three provinces.
"Today, we distributed assistance for the Sumatra disaster response in 10 districts. The amount is nearly Rp1 trillion in this disbursement, and it will continue in the next period once secondary data collection has been completed," he said.
Yusuf explained that the humanitarian budget intervention is being distributed to more than 82 thousand beneficiaries through state postal service PT Pos Indonesia's services to ensure swift and accurate delivery in areas located far from urban centers.
The stimulus package includes support for furnishing permanent housing units, three months of living allowance assistance, and programs aimed at strengthening community economic networks through economic stimulus assistance funds.
Based on data from the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (PRR) for Sumatra, the largest allocation in this phase was directed to Aceh Tamiang District, amounting to Rp448.2 billion for 39,263 families.
It is followed by Langsa City with Rp374.6 billion to support 31,772 affected families.
"The Ministry is ensuring that social assistance personnel in the regions will continue conducting regular monitoring and evaluation after the disbursement so that the stimulus funds are used productively to restore the economic resilience of disaster-affected families," Yusuf noted.
