Collin Gosselin Shares Update on Relationship With Estranged Siblings
Collin Gosselin is telling his side of the story.
Nearly 10 years after Jon & Kate Plus 8 and its sequel follow-up Kate Plus 8 wrapped, Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin’s son is sharing his story in his upcoming memoir In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. (He is one of the pair’s sextuplets, born in 2004. The now-exes also share twins born in 2000.)
“My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown—in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden,” the TLC alum told Us Weekly in a statement published June 17. “For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation.”
The 22-year-old shared that his book—which is set to release in October—will dig deeper than he ever has before.
“The book is about truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced,” he continued. “If my story helps even one person feel less alone or gives them the courage to tell their own, then every difficult page was worth writing.”
Indeed, the book’s synopsis states that Collin will expand on his past allegations of abuse.
“Collin is finally sharing the truth about being held down,” the synopsis reads. “The basement cell where he was hidden for years, and the cocktail of powerful antipsychotics forced on an eleven-year-old boy."
E! News has reached out to reps for Jon and Kate regarding Collin’s statements and memoir but has not yet heard back.
While this is his first time detailing his childhood in a longform format, Collin has often spoke about his his strained relationships with his mom, twin siblings Mady Gosselin and Cara Gosselin, as well as siblings Alexis Gosselin, Leah Gosselin, Joel Gosselin and Aaden Gosselin.
Indeed, Collin admitted in 2022 he hadn’t spoken to his family members—with the exception of sister Hannah Gosselin and his father—in over five years.

After Collin accused Jon of physical abuse in 2020, a rep for the former reality star denied the claims.
"Jon has never abused Collin. No charges have been filed against him and there’s no ongoing Children & Youth Services investigation,” a rep for Jon told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “Collin has endured severe trauma. Jon is a loving father who has worked hard to ensure that his son gets the support and help he needs."
Meanwhile, Kate has continually disputed Collin’s public allegations about his upbringing—which have included being locked in a cell-like bedroom in the basement and being forced into holds at psychiatric centers.
“Although it saddens me to do so, I need to speak out now," Kate wrote in a July 2023 Instagram post. “My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years.”
Kate noted that the allegations Collin made about how she treated him came from his "distorted perception” of reality.
“As many people who have family members grappling with mental health issues can attest, it is rarely and sadly surprising when complete fabrications occur,” she added, “and this is just another heartbreaking facet of this fight."
In 2024, her attorney Richard Puelo told Fox News, “She doesn't want to comment. Doesn’t need to. The record speaks for itself.”
