Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and pledging to shield it from corruption and prevent fund misappropriation.
“We aim to ensure that every rupiah is properly spent and, most importantly free from corrupt practices,” he told the press at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta on Thursday.
Speaking before departing for a five-province working visit, Gibran stressed the importance of corrective measures to strengthen the implementation of the national priority program.
He said the commitment is important to maintain public trust in government programs.
The Vice President added that governance reforms are not limited to the MBG program, but also cover other priority initiatives aimed at improving public welfare. He also underlined the government’s determination to ensure the success of the Red and White Village Cooperatives program.
Gibran made the remarks alongside five students from five universities whom he invited to join the working visit, which is scheduled to run until June 21.
He expressed appreciation to the students for providing input and suggestions to help the government improve its policies and programs.
“Thank you for your constructive input, especially regarding MBG and village cooperatives,” the VP said.
During the visit, Gibran is scheduled to review program implementation, open events, and inspect public facilities in East Nusa Tenggara, Gorontalo, West Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua.
The trip follows President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to oversee priority programs and strengthen synergy between regional governments and local communities.
Gibran invited the five students after holding a discussion with student representatives at the Vice Presidential Palace on Monday (June 15), amid students demonstration in Jakarta.
The Vice President’s Secretary, Al Muktabar, explained that the palace meeting covered key issues at both the national and regional levels.
