
American actress Daveigh Chase, best known for portraying vengeful ghost Samara Morgan in “The Ring” and for voicing Lilo in “Lilo & Stitch,” has died due to meningitis. She was 35.
Chase’s demise was confirmed by her boyfriend Roy Hernandez through a statement to TMZ.
The actress reportedly passed away on Tuesday, June 16, after suffering from meningitis and an infection in her blood “which caused her to have septic issues and led to her body shutting down.”

Hernandez also disclosed that Chase was hospitalized for malnutrition earlier this month.

Chase’s father also confirmed her passing in a separate statement to New York Times. According to him, Chase had been homeless and was staying in Los Angeles with Hernandez. Her dad further said she had been battling drug addiction since she was 13 years old.
Chase voiced Lilo Pelekai in “Lilo & Stitch” (2002), “Stitch! The Movie” (2003), “Lilo & Stitch: The Series” (2003) and in “Leroy & Stitch” (2006). She was also the voice behind Chihiro Ogino in the English-dubbed version of the hit Japanese animated film “Spirited Away.”
Aside from being a voice actor, Chase also starred in films including “The Ring” (2002), for which she won the 2023 MTV Movie Award for Best Villain. She made appearances as well in “Donnie Dark” (2001) and “S. Darko” (2009). /ra
