A police spokesperson confirmed they were making enquiries, after they "received a report relating to inappropriate behaviour by a teacher".
RNZ has contacted the board of trustees, who declined to comment, and the Teaching Council, who has not yet responded.
Congdon said he and the board acted on any complaints received, and took appropriate steps to manage them.
"When allegations against the employee were received, we immediately began following the appropriate policies and procedures, including initiating an employment process in response to these allegations," he said.
"The Teacher's Council have been notified and the investigation initiated by the board is nearing completion."
As an employment process and investigation were confidential to the parties involved, he was unable to comment further.
