
The Planning Authority has launched the final regional phase of its Irrestawra Darek u l-Villaġġ scheme, with €6.5 million allocated for properties located within Reġjun Lvant.
Infrastructure Minister Jonathan Attard and Planning Authority Executive Chairman Johann Buttigieg announced the opening of applications, marking the last phase of the nationwide €33 million initiative aimed at restoring Malta and Gozo’s historic urban cores.
An additional €1 million will also be allocated to Grade 1 and Grade 2 scheduled buildings located outside Urban Conservation Areas (UCAs).
Eligible applicants can receive up to €15,000 for heritage buildings within UCAs, while Grade 2 and Grade 1 scheduled buildings may qualify for grants of up to €50,000 and €100,000 respectively.
The scheme covers restoration and maintenance works, with a focus on façades and traditional architectural features.
Reġjun Lvant includes localities such as Birkirkara, Sliema, St Julian’s, Msida, Ta’ Xbiex, Lija, Għargħur and Pietà.
Expressions of interest opened on 18th June and will close on 25th June, or earlier if the allocated funds are fully subscribed.
