Kumong Bol-Anon 25 boxing event full fight card revealed

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The 25th edition of the “Kumong Bol-Anon” boxing series under PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions is set to feature a stacked fight card on July 11 at the Holy Name University (HNU) Barder Gymnasium in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The main event will see PMI Bohol Boxing Stable’s Joseph “The Hunter” Sumabong clash with Taiwan’s Jheng Ciou in a title unification showdown, with the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific and WBC/OPBF minimumweight titles on the line.

In the co-main bouts, Sumabong’s stablemates and IBF regional champions Shane “Sugar Shane” Gentallan and Leonard Pores III will also see action on the card.

Gentallan, the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asia light flyweight champion, will face China’s Xiaokang Song in a 10-round non-title bout. He is riding a seven-fight winning streak since suffering his lone career loss against fellow Chinese boxer DianXing Zhou in 2023. Gentallan holds a 14-1 record with seven knockouts and currently reigns as the IBF Asia light flyweight champion.

His opponent, Song, carries a 6-3 record with one knockout. Chinese fighters who have competed in the Philippines have traditionally proven tough, adding intrigue to the matchup. Song last fought in September, scoring a technical knockout victory over Natthaphong Nuchaiyaphum in Thailand.

Meanwhile, Pores III (10-0, 7 KOs), the reigning IBF Youth flyweight champion, will put his unbeaten record on the line against veteran Renoel Pael in another 10-round bout. Pael brings a 24-17-2 record with 12 knockouts and is looking to bounce back from a loss to Jemuel Aranas in Masbate last March.

Also featured on the card are former world title challenger Christian Balunan (13-1, 8 KOs) and Reymart Tagacanao (12-1, 10 KOs), both representing PMI and Villamor Boxing Gym in Cebu. Balunan will face Arvin John Sampaga (8-5-1, 3 KOs) in a 10-round bout, while Tagacanao takes on Jessie Bell Goltiano (7-7, 4 KOs).

The undercard will also feature Jericho Acaylar against Michael Adolfo, Sugarey Leonard Pores against Venjie Patac, and Dryxs Russel Sardalla against Jethro Illusorio.
