Naomi Cachia has been reappointed Government Whip following the first meeting of the Labour Parliamentary Group in the new legislature.
Reacting to the appointment in a video shared online, Cachia said she was honoured by the trust placed in her by Prime Minister Robert Abela and her parliamentary colleagues.
She also pledged to continue working to deliver on the mandate given by the Maltese and Gozitan people, saying she remains committed to serving in the role and helping ensure the government’s programme is implemented.
The role of Government Whip is responsible for helping coordinate parliamentary business and ensuring communication between government MPs and the Cabinet.
The appointment was confirmed during the first parliamentary group meeting of the new legislature, ahead of Parliament’s official opening on Saturday.
Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed MPs during the meeting, highlighting the government’s commitment to delivering on the proposals outlined in Labour’s electoral manifesto.
Cachia will continue serving as Government Whip, while Fleur Abela was appointed Deputy Whip.
