The Traitors: New Blood is the name of the civilian version of the Peacock competition premiering this fall on NBC.
Alan Cumming, who is returning as host, revealed that the series will premiere on Thursday, September 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with a two-hour episode.
In lieu of celebrities and socialites, the competition will open the doors to the now-infamous Scottish castle to 22 everyday Americans, hand-selected from a nationwide search resulting in over 60,000 hopeful applicants.
The Traitors premiered on Peacock in 2023 with a mix of civilian and celebrity contestants, shifting to all celebrity competitors for its second season.
The Traitors is based on the Dutch series De Verraders, a game that splits its contestants into two groups: The Faithful and the Traitors. At the beginning of the season, host Alan Cumming picks the Traitors that will pit the Faithful against each other by murdering them one by one while trying to remain undercover. The Faithful attempt to uncover the Traitors in a roundtable where they vote each other out and banish them from the game. At the end of the game, if there are Traitors left in the game, they will split the money between them. If there are no Traitors left, the money is divided among the Faithful.
The British version of the show on the BBC, which films at the same location as the U.S. version, has only had civilian contestants from the start. A celebrity version was ordered by the British broadcaster and aired last Fall.
The Traitors is produced by Studio Lambert. Alan Cumming hosts as well as serves as an executive producer along with Mike Cotton, Sam Rees-Jones, Rosie Franks, Jack Burgess, Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt and Doran Azouelos.
