Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized the strategic role of the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara) in strengthening the national economy through key government initiatives, including the implementation of a new one-stop export system.
Under the policy, export foreign exchange earnings will be managed centrally through PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) and channeled through the state-owned banking network.
Following a meeting with executives of state-owned banks at the Presidential Palace on Thursday (June 18), Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government expects Himbara to play a greater role in driving economic growth.
“The President provided clear direction regarding upcoming government policies,” Airlangga told reporters.
“At the core of these policies is the implementation of a one-stop export system and the channeling of export foreign exchange earnings through Himbara. The President expects these banks to play a major role in supporting national economic growth,” he added.
Airlangga explained that President Prabowo outlined several government priorities during the meeting and stressed the importance of Himbara fulfilling its role as an agent of national development.
The meeting was attended by the boards of directors and commissioners of Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), along with several cabinet ministers.
Meanwhile, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, who also serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the sovereign investment agency Danantara Indonesia, described the meeting as a productive initial step toward strengthening Himbara’s role as a key pillar of the national economy.
He said the discussion laid the groundwork for closer coordination between the government and state-owned banks in supporting priority economic programs and expanding their contribution to sustainable economic development.
