A man who was found unconscious and not breathing in Żebbuġ yesterday started breathing again after police officers and an off-duty Civil Protection Department officer rushed to his aid.
The Malta Police Force said RIU officers were approached by members of the public and informed that a person was lying unconscious on the ground.
Upon locating the individual, officers found him unresponsive and not breathing.
PC956 J. Buhagiar immediately began CPR, alternating with PC1431 W. Galea, while an off-duty Civil Protection Department officer also assisted at the scene until a medical team arrived.
Once medical personnel took over, the officers continued supporting the emergency response by managing traffic and ensuring road safety around the area.
Before the man was transferred to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical observation, officers were informed that he had started breathing again.
The Malta Police Force also said it received a message from an A&E doctor who commended the officers’ swift actions, saying they had “given him a fighting chance”.
Well done to everyone involved in the emergency response.
