Crows fans not happy with the umpires
By Andrew McGarry
I know it's a very uncommon occurrence, but the Crows fans are pretty unhappy with the umpires right now.
There have been a few free kicks rewarding the Demons' pressure and penalising Adelaide's over-exuberant tackling.
They're really revving up right now. We'll keep an eye on things!

Solid contest but a bit scrappy
By Andrew McGarry
There's definitely no quarter given at Adelaide Oval, and the tackling has been fierce, but the play has been a bit scrappy.
The Demons were out just now, and they had three one one, but the drawing defence and handballing clear didn't work, and the move broke down.
We're nearly halfway through the quarter, and both sides will be keen to convert more of their chances.

Jordan Dawson kicks an important goal for the Crows
By Andrew McGarry
The Crows have not been on their game in the latter stages of the opening term, and they have let the Demons take control of this one.
But finally they hit back, and no second guesses needed for who does the damage. It's Jordan Dawson again! he kicks his second, and the Crows are back within four points.

Demons threatening again, but miss a chance
By Andrew McGarry
The Demons are on top at the moment, and they are leaping on any chance.
They get another one early in the second term, but Paddy Cross goes for goal when he had Jacob Van Rooyen free and clear!
His kick drifts wide, and it's a point.

QT: Melbourne 5.0 (30) leads Adelaide 3.4 (22)
By Andrew McGarry
The siren sounds at Adelaide Oval, bringing the first quarter to an end, and its the Crows fans who are a little concerned.
The Demons have certainly taken their opportunities after a quick start for the home side. They have kicked 5.0 for the quarter, while the Crows have stumbled a bit with their kicking for goal.
There's not much in it, aside from one side having the composure and the other one not so much.
But there's plenty to play for and plenty of time.

Van Rooyen gets another as Dees break clear
By Andrew McGarry
There are a few boos going round Adelaide Oval from disgruntled Crows fans, as the Demons are on the charge here.
Jacob Van Rooyen has another goal! The Dees lead by nine points late in the quarter.

Demons make the Crows pay with goal to Van Rooyen

The Crows are suddenly under pressure at the back here.
The Demons are upping the intensity, and they force a turnover and Jacob Van Rooyen steers it home!
They lead by three!

Demons right in it after goal to Jefferson
By Andrew McGarry
The Demons have been struggling to get their stars into the play in the first quarter, with Kysaiah Pickett yet to touch the footy.
But that was better from the visitors, winning the ball on the wing, and kicking over the back. The Crows misread the ball, it runs for Matthew Jefferson, who runs into goal for the Demons' third.

Josh Rachele kicks a big goal for the Crows
By Andrew McGarry
It's been a tight enough first quarter, and now in time on it's still close.
But Izak Rankine gets on the ball and produces a lovely low kick for Josh Rachele to take a diving mark in the right forward pocket.
It's not a great angle, but he makes it look easy! Great kick from Rachele. They lead by nine points.

Demons answer through Jacob Van Rooyen
By Andrew McGarry
The Demons hit back pretty quickly, a great kick from Harvey Langford sets up Jacob Van Rooyen in the left forward pocket.
And the big man nails his kick, bringing the Demons back to a point.
We are nearly halfway through the opening quarter, so this is far from a shootout. Both sides need to settle here.

Jordan Dawson kicks Adelaide's second
By Andrew McGarry
The Adelaide skipper is obviously frustrated about his poor last pass in the previous passage of play.
Jordan Dawson has hit back, ending up on the end of a move after a Melbourne turnover, left to stroll into goal to kick one.
Crows in front by seven.

Crows waste a big chance
By Andrew McGarry
That was an excellent, if slightly wobbly move from the Crows.
They went through the corridor, with handballs and chip kicks to go to the edge of 50, where Jordan Dawson's kick flew over his teammates and was chopped off by Melbourne.

Applause around the ground for Tony Modra
By Andrew McGarry
It's the sixth minute of play, and a strong ripple of applause goes around Adelaide Oval.
It's in honour of Tony Modra, whose jumper number for the Crows was number six.
There is a big banner unfurled saying "God-ra".
It's like old times at the Crows.

Demons answer through Harvey Langford
By Andrew McGarry
The pressure is on from both sides. Lachlan McAndrew has a big task against Max Gawn in the ruck early.
The Crows are attacking plenty, but the Demons clear, and eventually they shift it forward.
It goes to the left side of 50, and Harvey Langford snaps a beautiful curling ball on the run - it looks like it might be a point, but it goes through for a goal!

Jordan Dawson a man to stop for the Demons
By Andrew McGarry
Very excited for super Saturday do you see Melbourne tagging Jordan Dawson given his game last week
- Bailey
Bailey,
Not sure if the Demons will put a tag on Jordan Dawson, but after a 32 disposal, seven clearance, three-goal performance last week, they probably should!

Tony Modra 'making a good recovery' after his crash, says Mark Ricciuto
By Andrew McGarry
The big footy-related news off the field in the last couple of days has been the terrible truck crash involving former Adelaide Crows and Fremantle star forward Tony Modra.
Modra crashed his truck at Back Valley on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula on Thursday evening.
His friend and former teammate Mark Ricciuto has updated Fox Footy about his condition.
"The latest is that he's making a good recovery, which is absolutely unbelievable," Ricciuto said.
"Everyone was really concerned for 24-36 hours that he might not even make it through but he's showing the grit we expect of Tony.
"He had a really long day of surgery yesterday, a big part of it was still happening late yesterday, to the left side of his face where the branch of the tree came through the side of his truck and fixed up his jaw and cheek bone and eye socket.
"He might not be the perfectly good-looking Tony Modra when he recovers but the great thing is that there's growing optimism that he will recover and recover well."
Also, on ABC Sport's radio coverage today, Aaron Bryans has told listeners that SA Health have been contacted, and Tony Modra's condition has been upgraded to "stable".
Like everyone in and outside of football, we wish him and his family and friends well and hope he has a full recovery.

Teams are in for Crows vs Demons
By Andrew McGarry
There are no late changes for either side.
There are a number of changes from last week in the named teams for both sides - you can see the line-ups above.
For the Crows, Luke Pedlar is out injured, while Josh Worrell misses due to illness and Toby Murray is omitted.
The ins, however, are significant. Taylor Walker comes back into the forward line, the dynamic Izak Rankine returns, as does key defender Mark Keane.
The Demons have a few ins and outs as well.
Harrison Petty's hamstring injury and Lukas Cooke's facial injury put them out of the side, while Bailey Laurie has been omitted.
In come Caleb Windsor, Tom McDonald and Matthew Jefferson.
