‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Is Getting a Sequel: What You Need to Know
Safe to say the cast of KPop Demon Hunters is officially done hidin'.
Because even though the actors' faces aren't shown in Netflix's animated runaway hit—about K-pop super group HUNTR/X that moonlights as, you guessed it, demon hunters—they've been shinin' like they were born to be since the Oscar-winning film's release on June 20, 2025.
"I would say the weirdest place I've been asked for a signature is in the hospital,"Ji-young Yoo, who voices HUNTR/X's bubbly but tough rapper Zoey, revealed to E! News in January.
Chimed in costar Arden Cho (the voice behind HUNTR/X's purple braided leader Rumi), "It has been a whirlwind. I don't think anybody was prepared for how busy we'd get."
And with the streamer's most-watched film ever surpassing 500 million views in late 2025 on its way to collecting two Golden Globes and two Oscars, the cast—including May Hong as Mira and their singing counterparts EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami—will be back to knock you out like a lullaby, with a sequel already slated for 2029.
Admittedly, the thought of waiting another three years to check in with HUNTR/X and their rivals the Saja Boys broke us into a million pieces. But it takes time to perfect animation and write Billboard Hot 100 bops like "Soda Pop," "Your Idol" and "Golden."
“I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters,” director Maggie Kang, who will once again claim a chair alongside partner Chris Appelhans, told Netflix’s Tudum in March. “There’s so much more to this world we have built, and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.”
And while we wait to see how a follow-up is done, done, done, we'll just have to shatter the silence with our favorite tracks and drink up every drop of these truly golden behind-the-scenes secrets.
