
Jason Momoa regards the character of Lobo in “Supergirl” as his dream role, revealing he had reached out to DC Studios’ Peter Safran and James Gunn to audition for it.
“I’ve been with Peter for such a long time, and I’ve known Gunn for quite a long time, too, and thishas just been my dream role. I always thought I would play him — I welcomed anyone that wanted to,to try to challenge me to play him!” the American actor said, recalling his excitement upon hearing about the project.
“So, right when they got the news about DC Studios, I reached out. I was actually hoping there was gonna be an audition for it, ’cause I really wanted this role more than anything,” he added.

Aside from the character’s dreadlocks, motorcycles and “foul mouth,” Momoa cited his love for anti-heroes as what drew him to the role. He also noted how he practically grew up with the comic book on which the movie was based.

But while he was filled with enthusiasm for the role, he admitted initially feeling jitters in portraying it.
“I think the only time I’ve ever really experienced this kind of ‘whoa’ transformation is on ‘Aquaman,’when I put on the gold suit. And Drogo kind of felt like that,” he said, referring to the popular characters he portrayed.
“But with Lobo, everything’s covered, there are literally massive scleras in my eyes. Hands… everything is this character. And I think when I put it on, like the thing just came out,” he stated. “I was a bit nervous when we started, but then right when everything went on, you look at yourself and you’re like, whoa.”
Speaking about Craig Gillespie’s “Supergirl,” which stars Milly Alcock in the titular role, Momoa continued, “They wrote it wonderfully, and I think her (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl) character’s amazing — all the struggles and trials and tribulations and growth and what she’s going through.”

“I mean, there’s definitely places where our characters could kind of overlap and sit down and have a drink. And I think she’s got a quick wit and just a sassy mouth,” he added.
“Supergirl” is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on June 24.
