
MANILA, Philippines — The 24 Filipinos who had been detained in Russia for nine months are scheduled to arrive in Manila early Sunday, June 21, according to Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez.
In a message sent to reporters, Gomez said, “The 24 will be arriving from Bangkok in two batches on June 21.”
According to Gomez, the first batch of six Filipinos are aboard flight PR 737 and will arrive at 12:05 a.m., while 18 others will arrive on Flight PR 733 at 4:05 a.m.

The planes of the two batches of Filipinos will land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 1.

The arrivals come after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the 24 Filipinos detained in Irkutsk, Russia would be released and repatriated following discussions with Russian authorities during his working visit to Kazan.
Marcos earlier said the Filipinos were believed to be victims of illegal recruitment and had been held for nine months with no charges filed against them. /apl
