Maltese tennis star Francesca Curmi has won the ITF W75 Blois tournament in France after defeating Alevtina Ibragimova in the final.
Curmi secured the title with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over the player, capping off an impressive week at one of the highest levels of competition on the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour.
The Maltese number one produced a strong run throughout the tournament, overcoming Astrid Lew Yan Foon, Lola Radivojević, Jenny Lim and İpek Öz on her way to the final. Her semi-final victory over Öz saw Curmi come back from a set down to book her place in the championship match.
The triumph represents one of the most significant achievements of Curmi’s professional career and is expected to provide a valuable boost to her ranking as she continues to climb the international circuit.
The result also caps a strong period for Maltese tennis, with Curmi continuing to establish herself as one of the country’s leading sporting figures on the global stage.
A big well done to Francesca!
