The PRDP is a rural development program of the Department of Agriculture that finances infrastructure and enterprise projects aimed at improving agricultural productivity, increasing farmers’ incomes, and enhancing access to basic services in rural communities. The program is supported by international financing institutions and works closely with local government units to implement development projects nationwide.
Under the PRDP process, proposed projects undergo technical, financial, economic, social, and environmental evaluation at the regional level before being endorsed to the National Project Coordination Office (NPCO) for final review and approval.
During the RPAB deliberation, project proponents and technical teams presented the merits and readiness of the proposed investments. After review, the board endorsed all three projects for elevation to the NPCO.
Among the endorsed projects is the Matalom Barangay Water System Development Project in Matalom, Leyte, valued at P139.90 million. The Level II potable water system will serve 11 barangays and is expected to benefit about 8,840 residents or 2,213 households through the installation of reservoirs, filtration facilities, pipelines, and communal tap stands.

The third project is the Camparanga–Manahaw–San Ramon–Canjumadal (CAMASACA) Farm-to-Market Road Project in Pambujan, Northern Samar. With a project cost of P316.29 million, the 10.343-kilometer road is expected to improve the transport of agricultural products from nearly 3,972 hectares of farmland and benefit more than 13,700 residents, including farmers and fisherfolk.

Following the RPAB’s favorable recommendation, the three projects will be forwarded to the PRDP National Project Coordination Office for further evaluation under the PRDP Scale-Up Program.
PRDP Eastern Visayas said the endorsement reflects the continued partnership between the program and local government units in pursuing infrastructure investments that improve rural services, support agricultural development, and promote inclusive economic growth in the region. /jpv
