Sharon Osbourne Shares "Unexpected" Hospitalization Led to Her Missing Recent Ozzy Osbourne Tribute

Sharon Osbourne is explaining her absence from an Ozzy Osbourne tribute.

Ahead of the first anniversary of the Black Sabbath frontman's death at 76, the Talk alum shared she had to cancel her appearance at the unveiling of her late husband's statue at Hellfest music festival in France on June 18 due to a sudden hospitalization.

"I’m sorry I couldn’t be at Hellfest for the unveiling of Ozzy’s statue," Sharon wrote in a June 18 Instagram post alongside a video of the sculpture. "Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week."

However, she emphasized her support for the special ceremony.

"A big thank you Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud and everyone at Hellfest," she added. "Special thank you to @philippe_pasqua_officiel for the absolutely stunning statue!"

And while Sharon, 73, did not share details regarding her recent hospitalization, she has continued to be candid with fans about her health over the years.

One month after she was rushed to the hospital following a medical emergency in December 2022, she shared what she remembered of the incident.

"It was the weirdest thing," Sharon recalled during an appearance on the U.K.'s The Talk in January 2023. "I was doing some filming and suddenly they told me that I [passed out] for 20 minutes. And I was in hospital, I went to one hospital, they took me to another hospital, and I did every test over two days, and nobody knows why."

Throughout her nearly five-decade career, Sharon battled colon cancer and also underwent a double mastectomy in 2012 after doctors discovered she carried a gene that made her susceptible to breast cancer.

And although she wasn't able to attend Ozzy's statue unveiling, the former America's Got Talent judge—mom to Aimee, 42, Kelly, 41, and Jack, 40, with her late husband—is making sure Ozzy's legacy will live on.

In fact, Sharon and Jack recently detailed their plans to create an artificial intelligence Avatar version of the rocker.

"You can ask Ozzy anything, and he will answer you in his own voice—and the answers will be what Ozzy would have said," Sharon said during the announcement at Licensing Expo 2026 in Las Vegas May 20, per Rolling Stone. "People can talk to him and he will talk back.”

Following criticism, the X Factor alum defended the family's decision to digitize Ozzy.

"Technology moves on," she said on the June 5 episode of The Osbournes podcast. "For somebody to turn around to me and say I'm doing a cash grab, no. You don't know my husband. I know my husband. And my husband would say to me over and over: ‘How long do you think I'll be remembered?'"

As Sharon put it, the AI Ozzy "will pass on through our family, and it's for our grandkids."
