
Jojo Bragais, president of the new national pageant Reina Filipinas, posted images that showed how the crowns for his competition will look like, and thanked Miss Grand International president Nawat Itsaragrisil for them.
In separate social media posts, the international pageant shoe designer shared 2D renditions of the crowns that will be awarded to the Miss Grand Philippines winner and the two delegates to MGI All Stars who will be chosen from Reina Filipinas.
The crown for Miss Grand Philippines is set on a gold base. Two prominent swirls in front, one with blue stones and another with red stones, are placed beside a sun that resembles the one on the Philippine flag. Three bejeweled stars are also prominently placed at the front side.

For the MGI All Stars candidates, the crown incorporates a similar aesthetic, and will still have elements from the Philippine flag. But the centerpiece will be a prominent star on the front side, encrusted with jewels.

Reina Filipinas was launched earlier this month as the national search for the Philippines’ delegate to the Miss Grand International pageant. Two candidates to MGI All Stars, a competition among veterans of global tilts, will also be chosen.
Reigning Miss Grand International Emma Tiglao is the new pageant’s national director, while Nawat will serve as executive partner of the organization.
Those interested to take part in the inaugural edition of Reina Filipinas may visit the pageant’s social media pages for details on eligibility and other information. The deadline for submission of applications is on June 30.
Reina Filipinas will also hold a “Grand Call” for candidates on June 24 at 42 Scout Borromeo in Quezon City. The requirements and other details are also posted on the pageant’s social media pages.

Bragais revealed that several international pageant veterans have already sent in their applications, including two transgender pageant titleholders. The competition is opening its doors to trans women because of MGI All Stars. But only cisgender women may qualify for the Miss Grand Philippines title.
The first-ever Reina Filipinas Grand Final will take place at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Newport World Resorts in Pasay City on Aug. 7. /edv
