
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police are continuing their search for an unidentified gunman who shot dead a 32-year-old man while he was visiting acquaintances in Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City on Saturday afternoon, June 20.
Authorities identified the victim as Reggie Apostol, 32, a resident of Sitio Soran in Barangay Kinasang-an Pardo.
Responding police officers from Inayawan Police Station found Apostol sprawled on the ground after the shooting, which occurred around 3 p.m. in Sitio Kauswagan.

He sustained gunshot wounds to the head from a still undetermined caliber of firearm.
Shot while passing through alley
Initial investigation showed that Apostol had gone to Sitio Kauswagan to visit acquaintances.
However, as he was passing through a narrow alley, an unidentified assailant suddenly shot him twice before fleeing.
As of Sunday, June 21, police have yet to identify the suspect and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Drug angle being looked into
Investigators are looking into illegal drugs as a possible motive behind the killing.
According to the victim’s sibling, Apostol had long been using illegal drugs.

His family, however, said the victim never mentioned receiving threats from anyone.
Authorities also learned that Apostol had previously been arrested in connection with illegal gambling involving “swertres.”
Search for gunman in Basak Pardo shooting continues
As of Sunday, June 21, police from Inayawan Police Station were continuing their investigation into the fatal shooting.
Authorities are also pursuing leads that could help identify and locate the gunman behind the attack.
