
LUCENA CITY, Batangas – Three people were injured when a fire broke out at a restaurant in Lipa City, Batangas, shortly after midnight on Saturday, June 20, police said.
In a belated report released on Sunday, the Police Regional Office 4A said the blaze struck Darwin’s Lomi House in Barangay Talisay at around 12 a.m., leaving three restaurant helpers identified only as “Gary,” “Zaira,” and “Celofe” with burn injuries.
According to the report, the victims were preparing ingredients and supplies for the restaurant’s operations the following day when the incident occurred.

Investigators said Gary had replaced a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder connected to the cooking area. While installing the tank, the regulator was reportedly adjusted, resulting in an undetected gas leak.

The leaked LPG vapor allegedly accumulated in the area and was ignited by an open flame from ongoing cooking activities, triggering a fire that injured the three workers.
Emergency responders rushed the victims to a hospital for medical treatment.
Firefighters from the local Bureau of Fire Protection station brought the blaze under control at around 1 a.m.
