
A wildfire broke out on Gelmus Hill in Rabat, Gozo, with flames and smoke visible across the area.
Footage showed the fire spreading across the hillside as emergency responders rushed to the scene.
The Civil Protection Department later confirmed that firefighters from Fire Station 6 responded to a large grass fire in the Ta’ Gelmus area of Victoria and worked to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading further and safeguarding nearby areas.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
In a statement, the CPD thanked the Malta Police Force and the Emergency Department at Gozo General Hospital for their assistance during the incident.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed.
The department also reminded the public to remain vigilant during hot and dry conditions and to report any signs of fire immediately by calling 112.
