
TACLOBAN CITY —A Monday morning shooting at San Jose National High School left three people dead and five others wounded, with authorities confirming that one of the two alleged suspects is already in police custody.
The shooting happened inside the school grounds in Barangay San Jose at about 9 a.m. Police immediately apprehended one suspect, a child in conflict with the law (CICL), but a second suspect managed to escape and remains at large.

According to an initial report from the Tacloban City Police Office’s Police Station 1, officers responded immediately after receiving information about the shooting. They confirmed that eight individuals were hit by gunfire. Three victims died, while five others sustained injuries and were rushed to medical facilities for treatment.
Authorities have yet to release the identities of the victims pending notification of their families.

Police said investigators are still determining the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motive behind the attack. The relationship between the victims and the suspects has also yet to be established.
A manhunt operation has been launched to locate and arrest the second suspect, as the arrested CICL remains under police custody and will be subjected to appropriate legal procedures in accordance with juvenile justice laws.
