
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A key leader of the New People’s Army rebels’ North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) was killed in a five-minute clash with government troops in Bukidnon, on Sunday, the military confirmed Monday.Lt. Col. Joe Patrick Martinez, spokesman for the 4th Infantry Division, identified the slain NPA leader as Romeo Mampinsahan, alias Kakoy and Yuman.
“His neutralization is a definitive victory for peace, but more importantly, it is long-awaited justice served to the communities of Bukidnon,” he told the Inquirer Monday morning.

In a text message, Martinez said that troops from the 8th Infantry Battalion (8IB), which is under the 403rd Infantry Brigade, launched a focused military operation after receiving information from concerned civilians.
The operation led to a brief but intense five-minute firefight in Sitio Nalumusan, Barangay Silae, Malaybalay City, that resulted in Mampinsahan’s death./coa
