
TACLOBAN CITY – City officials have pledged to strengthen security measures in schools following the deadly shooting at San Jose National High School on Monday that left three students dead and five others wounded.
Vice Mayor Raymund Romualdez said he was shocked by the incident, describing it as an unprecedented tragedy that has deeply affected the city.
“We are assuring the public that public safety is our main concern and that no similar incident would ever happen again here in Tacloban,” Romualdez said in an interview.

The vice mayor commended the Tacloban City Police Office for its swift response, which led to the apprehension of the two suspects, both minors, within hours after the shooting.
While assuring the public that additional safeguards would be put in place, Romualdez declined to provide details on the specific security measures being considered, citing ongoing assessments by local authorities and education officials.
