Jerald Napoles once again showed his drawing power after his movie “Love Ngo” grossed P126 million at the box office within four weeks after it premiered on June 23.
The screening of “Love, Ngo,” directed by Darryl Yap under Viva Films, was previously blocked for allegedly using derogatory language detrimental to persons with disabilities (PWDs), but was eventually greenlit by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board and given an R-16 rating.
On Facebook, Yap heaped praise on Napoles and costar Joel Ravanera, popularly known on social media as Malupiton, as the reason behind the movie’s box office success, on top of its “strong plot”.

“I believe ‘Love, Ngo’ would not have achieved the success it has today if not for its heart. The film’s success is proof,” he said. “Jerald has already proven himself as an actor, so I chose him for this movie. He made the character come to life.”

Yap also underscored the support the film received from the fans of Ravanera. “He is naturally hilarious,” Yap said of the content creator.
Yap then addressed the criticisms toward the movie, which revolves around the story of a person with disability (PWD).
“If the film is good, they will watch it. Viewers should watch it before making any judgments. But I always believe that a movie should make you react, question, and feel. We need to support art,” he said.
”Love, Ngo” also features cast members Candy Pangilinan, Louise delos Reyes and Gina Alajar.
Napoles previously starred in the movies “Un-Ex You” opposite his now wife Kim Molina, and “Wonderful Nightmare” starring Julian Alcantara. /edv
