Visitors to Silves have a new place to stop, take in the view and snap a photograph.
The Algarve municipality has unveiled a large wooden swing overlooking the surrounding countryside, describing it as a “window to the Serra” (mountainside) and inviting residents and tourists alike to capture and share the scenery on social media.
Installed at the José Correia Lobo car park, the structure frames sweeping views of the hills surrounding the historic Algarve town and is already proving popular as a backdrop for family photographs.
In a social media post announcing the attraction, the municipality encouraged visitors to take a picture, post it on Instagram and tag the council using the hashtag #silves.
The swing features a large frame topped with the name “Silves” and a stylised outline of the town’s iconic castle walls, creating what is effectively a giant picture frame for the landscape beyond.
