
Zia Dantes, daughter of Kapuso royal couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, is making her own path in show business through voice acting in the Filipino animated fantasy series “Sun Chaser,” starring Filipino-American actor Manny Jacinto.
Aside from Zia, her father Dingdong is part of “the “Sun Chaser,” along with an ensemble of actors who will voice the characters in the animation series, which will showcase Filipino mythological creatures.
Jacinto will play the lead role as Jordan Santos, an ordinary teenager who arrives in the Philippines expecting a quiet summer vacation. His life is soon turned upside down when a supernatural threat plunges his island into chaos.

As ancient powers awaken and long-buried family secrets come to light, Jordan discovers that he is destined to protect the boundary between the human and spirit worlds.

In the series, the father-daughter duo will be placing the roles of Necrofrost and Sessa, respectively. Necrofrost is one of the villains, while Sessa is Jordan’s cousin.
Also part of the cast are Liza Soberano, AC Bonifacio, KD Estrada, Eugene Cordero, JR de Guzman, and Charo Santos, who shared on Facebook her experience voice acting as a lola or grandmother in the series.
“Bringing Lola to life has been such a wonderful experience. I’m excited for everyone to see the mystical world of ‘Sun Chaser’ and the stories waiting to unfold,” said the award-winning actress.
In another post, she said she’s proud and honored to be part of the series, alongside creators, artists, and animators “who worked tirelessly to bring this world to life.”

Produced by Manila-based Toon City Animation and Playlab, “Sun Chaser” marks a milestone for Philippine animation as a creator-owned series developed and produced entirely in the Philippines.
It is also a story about self-discovery, family, courage, and embracing one’s purpose amid extraordinary circumstances, according to animators Bobby Pontillas and Bernard Badion.

The Filipino-American Pontillas is a Disney Animation veteran whose credits include “Zootopia,” “Moana,” “Big Hero 6,” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” and who received an Academy Award nomination for the animated short film “One Small Step” in 2018.
On the other hand, Badion has developed projects for major studios in Los Angeles, including “Transformers: EarthSpark.”
On its own, “Sun Chaser” has already earned international recognition after winning the Animation du Monde Prize for international projects at Annecy/MIFA 2025 in France, one of the animation industry’s most prestigious platforms for emerging animated projects and independent series.
