
A “humble” version of world-famous wax museums is finally in Manila with the launch recently of the Startista Gallery, which features life-size images of Filipino celebrities made, not out of wax, but of resin.
Located at the Star City within the CCP Complex in Manila, the Startista Gallery offers visitors an up-close encounter with Filipino icons from entertainment, sports, fashion, comedy and public service in their realistic resin images.
Among the celebrities that were featured are Angel Aquino, Rhian Ramos, Michael V, Paolo Contis, Ara Mina, Maui Taylor, Gladys Reyes and Ashtine Olviga.

For sports, Hidilyn Diaz, Efren “Bata” Reyes, and Django Bustamante were showcased, while politicians who were featured include Imee Marcos, Richard Gomez, Lucy Torres-Gomez, and Isko Moreno.

Like the wax figures at Madame Tussauds in Singapore, each image was brought to life through hand-sculpting, precision 3D printing and dynamic video displays.
Meanwhile, permission has been secured for production of the wax figure for Comedy king Dolphy and Bayani Agbayani.
Gracing the launch of the gallery were renowned ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and her husband, Federico Elizalde, chairman and CEO of Manila Broadcasting Company, which owns Star City. /edv
