EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Warner Bros. has acquired “Exposure,” a short story by Erika Vázquez & Siena Butterfield, who will pen a feature adaptation.
Plot details are under wraps but the story is billed as a psychosexual thriller with themes of voyeurism, set against a corporate backdrop. Barbara and Andy Muschietti are set to produce under their Double Dream banner, which is under a deal at the studio, with Jesse Ehrman and Cate Adams overseeing the project for Warner Bros.
No strangers to the erotic thriller, Vázquez and Butterfield most recently set up a spec in that genre titled Fixation at New Regency, also in a competitive situation, with Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories aboard to produce.
A pair of rising TV writers with credits like Wednesday and CSI: Vegas, who met as freshman-year roommates at Tufts University, the duo decided to start betting on themselves in the writing of features only recently. Within a year, they’ve sold all three they’ve put together.
Currently, the duo also has popcorn horror spec Warm & Fuzzy set up with SK Global, with Miri Yoon and Roy Lee producing. They are represented by Gersh, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
Coming off It: Welcome to Derry, the critically acclaimed It prequel series for HBO, Double Dream is next set to unveil Ride or Die, an action-comedy series starring Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham and Bill Nighy, which premieres on Prime Video on July 15. The Muschiettis are repped by WME and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
