
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — All 15 local government units (LGUs) across Oriental Mindoro have secured passing marks in the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) 2025 Good Financial Housekeeping assessment, giving the province a full 100 percent compliance rate.The milestone was announced by DILG – Oriental Mindoro through a post on its official social media channels last week, noting that every LGU met the national standards set for fiscal discipline and openness.Covered in the recognition are Calapan City, plus the municipalities of Baco, Bansud, Bongabong, Bulalacao, Gloria, Mansalay, Naujan, Pinamalayan, Pola, Puerto Galera, Roxas, San Teodoro, Socorro, and Victoria.The Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) program serves as the government’s key evaluation tool for transparency and accountability.
It determines whether or not the LGUs strictly follow accounting and auditing rules, publish required financial reports on schedule, and observe all regulations governing how public funds are collected, allocated, and spent.According to the DILG, the perfect rating confirms that every local unit in the province has demonstrated consistent responsibility in managing resources meant for the public.
Officials credited the achievement to the teamwork of local chief executives, budget officers, accountants, treasurers, and all finance and administrative personnel who worked to strengthen internal systems and processes.Being part of the provinces with a 100 percent passing rate also elevates Oriental Mindoro’s standing in national governance rankings.

DILG noted that sound financial management is essential for building and keeping public trust, and it directly supports better, more reliable delivery of basic services to communities.In line with department guidelines, LGUs that pass the assessment are deemed compliant with core financial requirements.
This status improves their eligibility for performance-based incentives and opens wider access to special programs and funding opportunities offered by the national government. /gsg
