The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has disclosed that seven police personnel lost their lives in the line of duty across the state within the last three months, while three others sustained injuries during separate operations.
Fatai made the disclosure while presenting an account of his stewardship since assuming office in March during an official visit by Adegoke Fayoade, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Information Communication and Technology (ICT).
According to the police commissioner, the deaths highlight the significant risks and challenges faced daily by security operatives in the course of protecting lives and property.
He described the fallen officers as gallant personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation and commended their dedication, courage and commitment to duty.
Fatai also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to supporting the families of the deceased officers and ensuring the welfare and recovery of the injured personnel.
The Lagos State Police Command, he said, remains focused on improving operational safety for officers and strengthening security measures across the state to effectively combat crime and safeguard residents.
