TUGUEGARAO CITY — Sea travel in Cagayan, as well as in Batanes waters, has been temporarily suspended due to Super Typhoon “Francisco” (international name: Mekkhala), which is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains on Tuesday.
Lt. Junior Grade Mark Ian Gazzingan, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard in Cagayan, said the suspension issued on Monday is aimed at ensuring the safety of travelers amid deteriorating sea conditions.

He warned that rough to very rough seas and poor visibility are expected along the coasts of Batanes, Cagayan, and the Babuyan Islands, posing significant risks, particularly to small vessels.
Boat owners and operators were advised to comply with the suspension order until it is lifted.
The Coast Guard also imposed similar restrictions over the waters of Palanan in Isabela, Santa Ana, and Claveria in Cagayan, and Batanes.
Despite the weather disturbance, fair conditions were still being monitored in Batanes as of the latest advisory. /coa
