Police say the driver of a marked Police car seen playing a video while driving has come forward and been issued with an infringement notice.
A video has been circulating social media of the marked Police car driving along the road while a video of what appears to be a FIFA match is played on a screen on the dashboard.
A Police spokesperson said they had investigated the incident which happened on June 17 and the staff involved have come forward, and have been spoken to.
"The driver has been issued an infringement notice, and both staff have been reminded of the high standards required when operating Police vehicles," the spokesperson said.
"Police apologise for this incident, and we acknowledge the concern this may have caused," Inspector MinHo Lee of Counties Manukau Central Police said.
"We want to be clear that Police officers must role model safe behaviour on our roads and they should lead by example."
Inspector Lee said Police were committed to maintaining the high standards communities rightly expected of them.
