A fire broke out at the former matches factory in Marsa this evening, prompting a response from multiple Civil Protection Department fire stations.
In a statement shared on social media, the Civil Protection Department said firefighters from Stations 1, 2 and 4 were dispatched to the scene to tackle the blaze.
The fire was successfully brought under control and extinguished.
Given the building’s history as an industrial site, firefighters also carried out a search of the premises to determine whether any hazardous materials were present.
The search returned negative results, with no dangerous substances found inside the structure.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Civil Protection Department thanked the Malta Police Force and Transport Malta for assisting during the operation.
The cause of the fire has not yet been announced.
