Prabowo launches 1,151-km regional road development in 37 provinces

President Prabowo Subianto symbolically inaugurated the construction of 1,151 kilometers of regional roads across 37 provinces throughout Indonesia in Sampang District, East Java, on Tuesday, to promote equitable national development.

According to a live broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat monitored from here on Tuesday, President Prabowo said that regional roads play a strategic role as the lifeblood of the people's economy.

"In the name of God, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, by the grace of Almighty God, hereby inaugurate the 2025 Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads covering 1,151 kilometers throughout Indonesia," President Prabowo remarked.

President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia is a vast country with diverse geographical conditions. Therefore, the availability of adequate road infrastructure is an important factor in reducing logistics costs and enhancing national economic competitiveness.

According to him, transportation costs will become more affordable if connectivity between production centers and residential areas can be well integrated through an adequate road network.

Prabowo also reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that no region is left behind due to limited transportation access.

"We are determined not to let any region be left behind solely because of limited access. We must reduce logistics costs for all people and for our economy," he stated.

In addition to supporting economic activities, Prabowo noted that road development is part of the national resilience strategy, including efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency and energy self-sufficiency.

Prabowo also called on regional governments to maintain and utilize the infrastructure that has been built so that it can provide maximum benefits to the public.

He assured that the government will continue to increase infrastructure development funding reaching regions and villages in the years ahead.
