Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Alms Agency (Baznas) distributed sacrificial meat to around 6,700 Palestinian refugees in camps across Syria's Idlib Province under its 2026 Eid al-Adha program.
Baznas Head Sodik Mudjahid said the Palestine Qurbani Program reflects the solidarity and concern of Indonesians for Palestinians who continue to face hardships due to prolonged conflict and humanitarian challenges.
"We want to ensure that the trust placed in us by the Indonesian people reaches our brothers and sisters in need. Qurbani is a symbol of care, brotherhood, and moral support for refugees living under difficult circumstances," he said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Sodik said meat from 200 sheep sacrificed during Eid al-Adha was distributed in the Hazano and Sarmada areas, reaching thousands of Palestinian refugees residing in Syria.
In Hazano, aid was delivered to the Qusaniyah, Shariaa, and Qadisiyah camps. In Sarmada, distributions took place at the Sarmada and Al-Omareen camps.

"We hope this qurbani meat distribution brings happiness to our Palestinian brothers and sisters who continue to be affected by prolonged humanitarian conflicts, especially during Eid al-Adha," he said.
Sodik also expressed appreciation to the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus for its support during the aid distribution process.
"We would like to thank and appreciate the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus for assisting and facilitating the smooth distribution of the Palestine Qurbani Program. This support has been crucial in ensuring that aid from the Indonesian people reaches its intended beneficiaries," he said.
He added that Baznas would continue expanding targeted and sustainable international humanitarian programs.
"We also thank all Indonesians who have entrusted their zakat, alms, donations, and qurbani through Baznas. Their support has enabled humanitarian assistance to reach Palestinian refugees who greatly need a helping hand," Sodik said.
