Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has pledged to increase development funding allocations across all regions, down to the village level, in the coming years.
He made the statement during the inauguration of 1,151 kilometers of regional roads developed under the 2025 Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in Sampang District, East Java, on Tuesday.
"In the coming years, we will increase funding for development across all regions, down to the villages," he confirmed.
According to the president, every region deserves equal opportunities for growth, regardless of geographic and transportation challenges.
He stated that road infrastructure development plays a crucial role in improving public welfare by facilitating economic activity, the distribution of goods, and public access to various services.
Prabowo also emphasized that road construction is one of the government's efforts to strengthen interregional connectivity and support regional economic growth.
"Indonesia is a very large country with a vast territory and diverse geographical conditions. Transportation costs will be cheaper if supported with adequate roads and connectivity between all production centers and residential areas," he remarked.
The head of state also called on regional administrations to ensure that existing infrastructure is well maintained and utilized effectively.
Prabowo said the roads were of good quality and highlighted the importance of road maintenance. He also stressed that expenditures funded by taxpayers' money should deliver the greatest possible benefit.
He symbolically inaugurated the construction of 1,151 kilometers of regional roads spread across 37 provinces in Indonesia in Sampang District as a manifestation of equitable national development.
On the same occasion, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo said the road construction aims to streamline the supply chain from production areas to consumer markets and strengthen the connectivity of regional roads with the national road network and public service centers.
The construction and improvement of 1,151 kilometers of roads in 37 provinces is supported by a state budget of Rp5.41 trillion, with all work completed and ready for public use.
"We monitor the quality of all this work, which is being executed in a well-planned, controlled, and accountable manner," Hanggodo confirmed.
He pointed out that road infrastructure development is no longer focused on specific areas, but has expanded across various regions in Indonesia to support economic growth and national connectivity.
