CEBU CITY, Philippines — Talisay City pride Jay Bryan Baricuatro delivered a commanding performance to capture the gold medal in the men’s 50kg division of the Grand Prix Ústí nad Labem 2026 held in the Czech Republic.
Baricuatro, a silver medalist in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games and the 2025 Astana World Cup, emerged as the lone gold medal winner for the Philippine men’s boxing team in the international tournament, further cementing his rise in the amateur boxing scene.
In the finals, Baricuatro overpowered Bulgaria’s Ergyunal Sebahtin, controlling the bout with sustained pressure, sharp combinations, and relentless forward movement.

The Filipino southpaw dictated the pace from the opening bell, staying close to his opponent and forcing exchanges that tilted heavily in his favor. His body-head combinations repeatedly broke through Sebahtin’s defense, leaving visible marks and swelling as the bout progressed.
By the final round, Baricuatro’s aggression and accuracy proved decisive as he secured the gold medal victory.

Meanwhile, fellow Filipino Junmilardo Ogayre secured a bronze medal finish in the men’s 60kg division, adding to the country’s podium haul.
Teammates Aaron Jude Bado and Claudine Veloso, however, fell short of medal finishes in their respective campaigns.
The result further strengthened Baricuatro’s growing reputation as one of the Philippines’ most promising amateur boxers on the international stage.
